I needed this, but not as a corner unit. I have a very large, old wood desk and have been using wood cutting boards to make my 22" monitor higher from the top of the desk. My wired keyboard is right in front of the monitor so for me, in this situation, this riser works perfectly and looks a lot better than the cutting boards!I found the "right-out-of-the-box" height to be perfect for me. I did try putting the extra pieces on the legs and that made it too high and would definitely cause neck strain. As others have said, the instructions are not helpful and they are for several different styles of risers, including this one, and that gets confusing. Just take it out of the box, take the plastic bag containing the "riser feet" out of the box and attach them separately or together (for more height) to the riser itself. But, first, try it the way it is - that's what worked best for me. You are done! And, the riser could be used for other... I recently received a Fellowes Smart Suites Corner Monitor Riser via the Amazon Vine Review program. When I chose this item, I was thinking that it would be nice to reclaim a bit of my desk space by having room underneath the monitor to store more clutter. But overall, my impression is mixed. It does what it's meant to do, but I didn't feel like it was a step up from my current configuration.In terms of design, the black molded plastic is OK, but the milky plastic overlay that covers the support structure looks and feels somewhat cheap. It comes with additional rubber feet you can use to adjust the height of the stand, but I didn't use them as it would have made the monitor a whole lot higher than it currently is. The unit comes with "directions" on how to assemble it, but I certainly had problems making heads or tails of what they were trying to convey. I'm very very pleased with Fellowes Smart Suites Corner Monitor Riser. Despite its design for corner use, it works just as well straight on. The rubber feet keep it from sliding, so no worries about it falling in the back table/wall gap. I'm using the riser for my AOC flat widescreen monitor and it fits just right, with room to spare. My new Fellows riser works perfect for me and its much better looking than the cardboard box I was using. I'm happy with the added height and I'm much more comfortable viewing my monitor now.Pros: - Sturdy construction, yet lightweight. - It's attractive with curvy black frame and semi-opaque white plastic insert. It matches with my shiny piano black finish monitor. - It's adjustable. The two sets of three rubber feet spacers are about 1/2 inch each, for a total of 1 inch added height you can take advantage of. I'm using all of the spacers for a full height of 5 inches. - It's nice to have space under the monitor to use... Read more |
